Potpourri

Looking out my window this morning,
it is cloudy and the wind is blowing.
A cold front is on the way.
At least, what qualifies as a cold front for us!
We might even get some much needed rain.

This week I took a dear friend to lunch to celebrate her birthday.
We went to one of Houston's top restaurants,

It gives an upscale name to "hole in the wall".
Walking down the street, if you blink at the wrong time,
you will miss it!

Helen Greek Restaurant

A warm, intimate setting with it's narrow brick clad rooms.

Lets get to the food!
We shared the citrus and fennel salad (their winter salad).
Fennel, orange, grapefruit, blood orange, red onions, calamata olives, feta.
Delicious!

And, the Green 'n Cheese pie.
Phyllo, four different greens and three different Greek cheeses.
 YUM!

Helen Greek Food and Wine is an easy walk from my house.
I'll be going back ... soon!
There is nothing else like it in town.

For me, the holiday season begins when the Houston Zoo
has the members opening for Zoo Lights.

The weather was perfect.
The kettle korn and gingerbread cookies were pretty wonderful, too!

Wishing You well and much joy!

That restaurant looks absolutely lovely; it's my kind of place! We visited Houston last April (for the Final Four) and we enjoyed the city so much. I didn't have high expectations because I'm not really a 'city' girl; but we were so impressed with the friendly people and the cleanliness of the city! Have a great weekend. Suz

I love Greek food and this restaurant looks like it make delicious fare!
I worked with a doctor who was from Greece and he gave me many delicious authentic recipes his mother made. My favorite was Greek lemon soup-- Avgolemeno.
