The Second Most Wonderful Time of Year

The second most wonderful time of year
is when peaches make their appearance at the Farmer's Market!
I was afraid there would be no peaches this year.
The best peaches in this area are grown in the hill country.
They need cold weather and they didn't get much last winter.

Peaches

I've been having peach smoothies for breakfast.

I also came home with tomatoes.
It's bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich time.
With half of the tomatoes gone and only a few peaches left,
a trip to the market next Tuesday is definitely in order!

Tomatoes

In Musashi's garden,
the day lilies I ordered from Oakes Lilies are starting to bloom.

Little Grapette

Little Grapette was the first to bloom.
2″ bloom, 12-18″ tall, Early Season, Semi-Evergreen.
Deep grape colored blooms with a deeper purple band around a small chartreuse throat.

Mini Pearl

This is Mini Pearl.
3″ bloom, 16″ tall, Early-Mid Season + rebloom,
Masses of blush apricot pink blooms are held low on short scapes.

I Almost Cried

I was so excited.
One of the vendors at the Farmer's Market said they had peaches.
I started dreaming of peach pie,
peach smoothies,
PEACHES!
I could hardly wait for Saturday to come around.

They weren't there!
No peaches!
I almost cried.

Yesterday I had to go to Fresh Market to pick up a few things.
It was also cleaning day, so I thought I might pick up a sandwich --
cleaning day means no cooking day.

What did I find?
Peaches!
They were a little small and hard, but boy did they smell good.
So I got a few ...

Summertime

And this morning I had the first smoothie of the peach season.
YUM!

YeeHaw!!

Wishing YOU well and much joy.

I Swooned!

I went to the Farmer's Market this morning.

I went with a list.
I had to buy black pepper chevre from Blue Heron and
I've been noticing that farmers in the area have been showing off the tomatoes in their gardens on FB. So I added tomatoes to the list.
I skipped the large farms that had tomatoes and went straight to the little farmers
and the heirlooms.
YUM!

Tomatoes

If I found tomatoes, then I wanted bread to go with them and the chevre.
A loaf of wild rice, onion and sage bread was definitely in order.

Then I decided I needed a treat.
The cinnamon roll will last me all week!

I was still walking and looking and my sack of goodies was getting heavy when I saw them.
I think I swooned!

They smell so good.
