It's Almost July!!!

It's almost July.
Time to think about the 4th of July.
I was wondering what I had in the house that was red, white and blue.

First, a short story.
Do you wonder why you keep junk things?
I was going through a box I'd brought in from the garage.
(Yes, I'm still shredding and throwing and it's probably why my back is complaining.)
I found a bunch of old calendars.
Some of them were cat calendars and since I love kitties, I knew why I'd kept them.
I'll do something with them one day ... I hope.
Then I found a 1994 (really!!!) Annie's Victorian Village Calendar.
Looking through the calendar of lovely photos,
I found at the very back Place Mat Patterns and Tea Room Restaurant Recipes.
Now it starts making sense!

I stopped when I saw this photo.

4th of July Placemats
From the Annie's Victorian Village 1994 Calendar

I'd found red, white and blue place mats -- perfect for the 4th of July.

Here's my crochet place mat made from the newly found pattern
and the red, white and blue kitchen towels I already had.
The kitchen is going to look good for the month of July!

Red, White and Blue Place Mat and Kitchen Towels

The  crochet pattern for the place mat was very easy.
The original called for worsted yarn and I used Lily Sugar 'N Cream cotton yarn

It's beginning to look a lot like July!
And feels like it ... high today projected to be 101 with feels like temp around 110.
Iced tea anyone?
 Time for me to hibernate!
Wishing YOU well and much joy!

I save old calendars too. Those images can come in handy for journaling. Nice 4th of July goodies. We don't do much here, doggies hate fireworks so it's always stressful in the next couple weeks in our house. xox

Your place mats are absolutely PERFECT! I never thought of crocheting place mats, but WHY NOT! It looks just great and I know your kitchen will just SHINE!! I love the photos you found. I just love treasure that's been tucked away. For a couple of years now I have been asking my wonderful husband and my awesome son to bring down a box or two from the attic so that I can look through them and "maybe" get rid of some stuff. Well, so far they are not being wonderful or awesome because nothing is down from the attic yet. COL (chuckle out loud). We have TONS of stuff up there. It's hard telling what's in those boxes, but I wish I could take a look.
I checked out your other posts since I haven't been by in a little while. I just ADORE your index cards. Very colorful and entertaining.
And who doesn't LOVE the irony in your shirt!! LOL!
Your the greatest, Snap!
Hugs,
Brenda

Hi Snap,
My access to the internet has been very slow lately, so it's been very hard for me to catch up with everyone.
You found a very beautiful and creative way of celebrating your 4th of July, with that place mat.
Thanks for sharing.

I love the picture from your calendar. The place mats look very pretty and easy to make. I was thinking about making similar ones, but I'm afraid I won't have time. As you said it's almost July. So I'm just going to decorate my table with red and white doilies and add some other blue accents.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. That's how I found your blog.
Enjoy the last days of June!
