Tea and Cake

Last week I had a birthday.
I went out and bought myself a cake and some flowers.
Came home and put 6 candles on the cake.
One for each decade.
(I didn't want to burn the house down.)

Tea and Cake

Lucille, my sister by choice, knows me well.
She knows that two of my favorite things are tea and birds.

Porcelain Teapot with infuser

For my special day she gave me the lovely Audubon porcelain tea pot (with infuser).

Porcelain Mugs and Spoons

And, two mugs with spoons.
I'm a very lucky girl.

Tea and Cake

When I blew the candles out, I sent a special message up to the stars.
"I miss you and love you and I'm trying hard to LIVE."

Tea and Cake

The cake was a red velvet chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.
I had it for breakfast several days!
It was not on my diet, but birthdays come only once a year.

Thanks to our tea party hostesses.
These are just a few of the tea parties in the Land of Blog.

and the pleasures of company."

I know that your message to the stars was heard loud and clear -- did you feel the wind on your cheek, that kiss that said "I love you too..you will live and live well" -- anyone who can treat herself to such a special birthday has much too much living left to do ♥

Happy Birthday, Snap, and many more! The first one without Mr. Dragon must be especially hard but good friends, tea and birds will cushion you, I hope. And red velvet cake too, of course.

Your teapot the matching cups ARE lovely. Cake for breakfast is a must when you're celebrating a birthday , are there calories in birthday cake?

Happy Birthday, and your cake is making me hungry. I love your teapot and your table looks divine. That bouquet of flowers is really amazing.

You may have six decades of wisdom, but I think that you have six decades of love showing.

I think you are doing a fine job living and trying to live. And frankly, that it is the best you can do now or at any time. This is all still so darn fresh. Allow yourself to be sad, in pain, grieve as you will. Now, eating cake for breakfast is one of my favorite ways to be me. If I was there I would have eaten half of that cake for breakfast(s). It is odd because we have been noticing our red cardinal a lot more than usual lately. Often times when the trees get their leaves again (after their long winter nap) that he is heard but not seen. So often in fact that I looked to see what Ted Andrews had to say about the cardinal which was " accept yourself as a source of light". I think that is excellent advice for anyone at any point in their life, don't you? Sending you much, much love.
