This and That

Mardi Gras is going on - despite the nasty weather.
Let the good times roll!
Friday, February 2-Wednesday, February 13.
Galveston, the third-largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, is spread over 12 days and includes parades, music, food, family-friendly activities, 5K fun run, and galas including the Tremont House Mardi Gras Ball and the San Luis Salute.

Poor robin redbreast,
Look where he comes;
Let him in to feel your fire,
And toss him of your crumbs

I walked to the drug store to pickup Teddy's heart meds.
(He's doing fine.)
I found these Valentine socks.
They are the non-slip kind with the little plastic dots on the bottom.
Perfect for someone who doesn't like shoes!!!
Score!
And, they are cute!

Valentine Socks!

  8. Galveston - third largest? Never would have guessed! We just had king cupcakes for our faith formation class - so much fun! Thanks for mentioning the socks with the 'grippers' on the bottom - we are going to need them for our guests in our new log home so they don't slip on our stairs! Happy Fat Tuesday to you!

  9. Great photos - love the poem for the robin. I've not had a king cake before - had to look it up - sounds delicious. I adore sticky-foot socks, as I don't ever wear shoes unless I'm going to town. I even forgot last year at my husband's big birthday bash - lots of his coworkers were here and I realized halfway through the party that I was out on the lawn in the midst of the party in bare feet. Oh well, they should be used to me now.

  10. Oh, how I long to see a robin again. Too much snow -- not happening here soon! But those socks are just the best. Really cute. I love socks and these would definitely find their way into my collection!

  11. Mardi Gras always sounds like such fun. They featured King Cake (which I had never heard of) on the "Chopped" show the other night., Haven't seen any robins here yet. I want the Smitten Kitten socks.

  12. What a fun collection (love those sox)..... AND the memories of Mardi Gras from the winter we spent near Mobile (which I assume is the second largest?...) anyway, people there told us that New Orleans stole the party from them ;>).... anyway it was one of the coolest things we experienced in our full-time traveling life. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we had absolutely NO idea about what it was all about. Let the good times roll! (I learned to say and write that in French when we were there, but it has been too long and that knowledge has left my weak brain.).
