It finally got cool enough for Mr. Dragon and yours truly to make a quick trip to the zoo to see the dinosaurs.
"Dinosaurs?", you say?!!!
Yep.
It was a great idea.
Bring the dinosaurs to the zoo during the summer when folks are looking for something to do with the kids.
Hopefully, there will be a few visitors who haven't been to the zoo before,
will enjoy the dinosaurs and find out that the Houston Zoo is a great place to visit.
It was such a good idea, that the dinosaurs were held over through Halloween.

I loved the setting.
Lots of foliage, trees, flowers
for the dinosaurs to play in.
It was all well thought out.

We had a great time watching the kids.
They were running and loud and then they entered the dinosaur exhibit
and suddenly, when they come on the first dinosaur ... quiet!
BIG critters and they make LOUD noise.
At the every end there was a cemetery.
A cemetery for just a few of the animals that once roamed the earth
on land and in the seas.
We really don't have a very good record being stewards of the earth and its creatures.
It was a lovely, cool (mid 70's instead of low 90's) way to spend the afternoon.

Yes, on Samhain/Halloween we should remember the species that have become extinct too, in addition to our ancestors.

ReplyDeleteCould I send you a few ^ 0r 7 bears ranging in size from cub status to elephant status. We have a really bad situation here this Fall. We truly are being overrun by very hungry bears. Add a cougar to the mix and I have my own zoo so to speak. Glad it has cooled down for you. Happy Halloween! Sharon

ReplyDeleteIf I'm to see dinosaurs in the woods, these are the sort I'd like to see. My 3 yr old great grandson would be in kiddy heaven to see these; he's dinosaur crazy at present.

ReplyDeleteI just came from the LA Zoo today and we do not have these dinosaurs! And most of the park was under constructions.
I wish I could bring my grandson to this exhibit -- he'd love looking at all the dinosaurs!
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad about all the different animals that became extinct. Hopefully more is being done these days to help prevent that from happening.
Gosh, Snap - these dino's have been roaming. They were here in Denver a bit ago. My Grands did love them!

ReplyDeletePlenty of food for thought here. I think I am glad I wasn't roaming the earth at the time of the dinosaurs, though. Our halloween was cold, cold, cold. I am still defrosting after trick or treating!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! My grandkidlets would love something like this! The 6 yr. old has been asking to go to a cemetary to do grave stone rubbings. ??? Where on earth she got that idea, I'll never know.

ReplyDeleteOh, my girls love dinosaurs and are totally fascinated by them. We had to buy a big book so we could see how the names was supposed to be pronounced. Not too easy! We saw the spectacular show "Walking with dinosaurs" last year and the girls still talk about it.

ReplyDeleteYour sentences under your mosaic are really true and not only with animals and earth, especially not with ourselves, bitter truth. I am also very fond of Buddism however I am no Buddist, it's probably a good way to become friendly with oneself.
