Friday night the zoo was open to donors for a sneak peak at Holiday Lights 2014.
There were two million lights last year and this year they did one better--
three million lights!
These are large revolving globes near the African Forest exhibit.
I didn't take as many photos as I have in the past.
It was just so lovely walking through the zoo with good friends.
There were several repeats from years past like Mr. Deer who pops up now then when you least expect him.
A trip to the gift shop is always in order.
They had lovely trees decorated with toy animals.

Last year the temperature was 89 with a high humidity.
This year the temperature was 44 and no humidity.
Over 700 had RSVPd for the event, but I'm guessing not half that number showed up.
Too bad.
There was no wind and it was really quite a lovely evening.
The lights are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like how all of the trees are lit. It looks like some kind of magical forest in the last photo.

Spectacular! Especially that last photo. The extra million lights made all the difference, eh?
ReplyDeleteOh my can't imagine all those lights, now I have a feeling to want to visit a zoo at this time of year, such magic
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an amazing place, and amazing to have 1/3 more lights this year.
ReplyDeleteI can well imagine all this! We have what is called 'Southern Lights' at the Kentucky Horse Park. It's a drive-thru display which ends at an indoor exhibit, very similar to yours, with gifts, etc., for sale. They're so much fun, aren't they? It's become an annual tradition ... at least as long as my granddaughter believes in Santa as this is where she goes to see him. This may be the last Santa year, just not sure ...
ReplyDeleteReally spectacular lights !
ReplyDeleteGreat photos !
It's beautiful! I enjoyed the stroll with you.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing sight! It certainly must have felt like the kick-off to the holidays with those brisk temperatures.
ReplyDeleteThat is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas lights are here and vibrant color too. Love your shots!

I don't think of a light show like this associated with a zoo, but then ours ends up covered in snow. Not sure if it closes for winter too.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you chose that last photo for your FB, awesome, isn't it?
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
I'm sorry, but I have to ask, who counts all those lights to know the total? Lol. That might be an interesting job description: Christmas light counter. :D Lovely photos. Hope your week next week is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThe trees strung with lights are so beautiful! They look magical!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine it being 89 degrees this time of year. :-)
Spectacular lights!
ReplyDeleteAnd those Christmas trees look so cute!
Just breathtaking...and I know they are really pretty in person. Your photos are great...cute trees.

How lovely the displays. Here we have loads of snow and frigid temps staying all week so no venturing out for me if I can help it...stay warm!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work with lights.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! Sometimes I think it feels more festive for something like this when it's cold! I would love to see this! Enjoy your week! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTotally amazing 3 million. Glad I don't have to string those. Thanks for sharing though. I can enjoy vicariously. xox
