I walked up to the Village over the weekend
taking advantage of the still low humidity and heat.
My goal was to stop in briefly at Half Price Books
and then a treat of grapefruit sorbet.
I was looking for owl cards.
Alas, there were no owls.
But
There were plenty of tea things.
Lots of books and wonderful cards.
Notice the tea pot on the cover of the little book SIMPLE PLEASURES TEA.
I have one of those!
It is a Hall teapot.
The metal cover keeps the tea warm.
It was my Mother's favorite tea pot.
I'm going to have lots of good reading ahead.
I've started A TIME FOR TEA: Travels Through China and India In Search of Tea
by Jason Goodwin.
I am updating my tea notes for the Food and Feast tour I give at the museum
and this will be a big help.
Last, but not the least of the tea goodies are these cards inside the lovely tin.
I think they would be fun framed together, or separately, or to write a note.
What fun!
(If I do say so myself!)
(Oh, and the grapefruit sorbet ... they were out!)
Thanks to our tea party hostesses.
These are just a few of the tea parties in the Land of Blog.

oh wow, love that you have collection of tea books, i too love to buy tea books for the reason that i also love the tea quotes that they sometimes put in between tea recipes :) gorgeous teapot on the book that you got too, the metal cover is adorable and the blue teacup in the mosaic is just what i always wanted to find for my next hunt for a blue teacup! lovely post! x Susan
ReplyDeleteLove the Cibber quote. I can't imagine life without tea. My husband would say I'm addicted. I say there are worse addictions!
ReplyDeleteI'm popping over from Rose Chintz cottage to join you for tea. What a lovely collection of books. Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteYou found a lot of goodies. You'll be reading about tea for awhile from the looks of that stack of books.
ReplyDeleteHello there, Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Great that you have the same tea cup. I really like your mosaic of tea cups they are very pretty. I hope you will stop by again. Have a wonderful day. Karie
ReplyDeleteHow grand to find a book with the same sort of teapot that your mom loved. The tea note cards are very fine, and you are right, they would be wonderful framed. Sometimes we don't find what we set out seeking, but end up with a much greater treasure.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog. Have a glorious day sipping and reading.
Blessings,
Marianne
Lovely post! I too, love going to the bookstore, you never know what you will find. And you found a book with your own tea pot on it! The cards are wonderful. I love the blue tea cup!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the Village.... So you got lots of good books. Have you visited China or India? If not, you ought to --just to get some of their great tea. My hubby (when he was in China) loved their hot tea there...

Hi Snap,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thank you for visiting my blog and for leaving a comment. I hope google translator has done a good job.
As I am addicted to antiques in general and specially tea antiques, I loved the cards you showed with those magnificent antique cups, mainly the two on the right.
Tea books are usually very well illustrared, full of recipes, stories and curiosities around tea and tea drinking. I have two, but the one I cherish most was a gift from my daughter...
Hugs
You hit the tea-related motherlode! I remember those Hall teapots too. Unlike you, I don't have one.
ReplyDeleteWhat - no grapefruit? I hope you got another flavor instead.
ReplyDeleteI too love tea books and anything that has to do with tea! Your photos are great. Thanks for sharing and for joining me for tea today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
There's something just so comforting about a collection of tea things - books, pots, cups and saucers. Tea with a friend, though, is the best of all.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure you've had!
ReplyDeleteYour teapot, just like your mothers, the one that is also on the books cover, make the book all the more of an enjoyable and serendipitous find..,
Do enjoy those books, tea, goodies and such.., Too bad they were out of grapefuit sorbet; its sounds refreshingly delectable!
Thanks so much for sharing, as well as for being a part of the fun of TTTT and also for taking part with this my 82nd, Tuesday Tea For Two.
We always so enjoy having you join us!
Cheers and hugs from Wanda Lee
I can’t believe another week has gone by with another delightful tea party. You have a wonderful eye for little specialties. Great reading under a shady tree. Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteIt would not be so enjoyable without you and your creative touch. I always look forward to seeing you as often as you can pop in.
Blessings,
Pam
