Postcard Friendship Friday

Back to San Antonio and the linen look postcards I found in the closet.

What wonders one can find when cleaning, searching, looking for something else!

Lion Postcard

I'm not sure you can see it on this card, but Breckenridge is spelled Breckinridge.

Flamingo Postcard

Bear Postcard

Back of Bear Postcard

The Bear Pit card was the only one with a description (sort of) on the back.

  1. Well, at least the bears and flamingos have more room to move around in than those poor lions.

  4. Fantastic old postcards, Snap! I've visited Breckenridge Park twice in my lifetime; once at age 16, when I got the worst sunburn I have ever had in my life, and again at about 45 whilst in town for a convention. I didn't get sunburned that time. :)

  5. Love those old linen images. We missed that park! I agree with Debra above, those lions are not getting a fair shake in that little cage! Happy Friday.

  6. Nice oldies...The lions are prisoners :(
But unlike giant pandas, they are not fussy about reproducing in captivity.
    No educational tapes necessary...

  7. These vintage cards are really beautiful, and yes, happily zoos have changed and are much more animal-friendly now. My sister loves to photograph in zoos (she even has her own zoo photo stream on Flickr: Truus & Zoo). Recently I gave her some old postcards from the Amsterdam Zoo, Artis. They are a bit like these. Happy PFF.

  8. Love these cards! We used to go to San Antonio and the zoo every year for vacation when I was a little kid. The thing I loved most about that zoo was the vending machines that made wax animals. I remember they were hot when they came out and you'd have to hold them upside down until they cooled off. I actually still have some of them somewhere! Guess they don't have those anymore...probably to much liability with the combination of hot wax and children! :)

Thanks for bringing back fond memories!
