Watery Wednesday

This is not exactly Mr. Starling's best side, but he was sure having fun taking a bath!

Weather: It's been sauna like. Rain everyday. At least I don't have to water!
Reading: Getting ready to start The Mapping of Love and Death: A Maisie Dobbs Novel by Jacqueline Winspear
Appointments: Lots going on this week. It's been 3 months since Mr. Dragon had surgery so we are back to Anderson for endoscopy this week and CT scans next week. Keep those good vibes, prayers, juju, white light, thoughts coming! Thanks!

Postcard Friendship Friday

Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by the lovely Beth. Be sure you visit!

Today Beth has posted a card about our wonderful national flag.

I would like to say I did some closet cleaning this week, but that wouldn't be the truth.
I have this closet. It houses a little of everything. Extra pillows, yarn, beads, photos. I am happy to report that the door does close and nothing falls out when I open the door. In my search for the objects I was looking for, I found some old postcards. I didn't remember them at all and it was a very pleasant surprise. Here is one of them - The San Antonio River Walk. I have to admit that I love the painted look and the wonderful colors of the older cards.

The very top of the card reads: "Where Sunshine and Shadows Meet". Scene on the San Antonio River, San Antonio, Texas.

My parents and I did live in San Antonio for a very short time when I was 6 years old.
That was some 50 - cough, cough - years ago. I'm guessing that is when this card was purchased ... a remembrance of sorts.

Happy PFF!

Watery Wednesday

I really enjoyed my first visit with all the folks at Watery Wednesday last week (be sure you go visit). I thought I'd give it a go again this week. I think, however, that this post should be called Sudsy Wednesday!

Our beautiful god-daughter and her handsome beau (hereafter known as The Kids), came over on Monday (my birthday) to give my poor, neglected car a bath. They brought their own materials and did a wonderful job. In fact, we told them they should have one of those magnetic signs on their car "Detailers Will Travel"!!!

After a sudsy start to the morning, and a change of clothes, we were off to lunch.

Blogoversary

On June 3, I will celebrate my second year of blogging, exploring, meeting new folks, making new friends, learning new things.
It's been a whole lot of fun. I also noticed that sometime in the last month I reached 100 followers and 400+ posts. I really don't pay a lot of attention to those things, but decided since they all sort of came together at the same time, there must be some significance and so, it was time to celebrate with a little give-a-way.

Here's the deal, the give-a-way is for my followers only. There is no button to put on your blog. Blogging about the give-a-way won't get you extra points. All you have to do is leave a comment here. On Friday, June 18, I'll name the winners. There is one small *fly in the ointment* ... you must let me know what gift you would like. I've noticed that I have a lot of readers in my followers and I hope there is something here you would like. You get to choose from:
  • The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women: a portable mentor by McMeekin
  • The first three Matthew Shardlake Historical Mysteries by C. J. Sansom
  • Hooked On Murder by Betty Hechtman - the first in a crochet mystery series
  • A reusable box of 10 recycled cards and envelopes titled *Amelia's Trees*. The quote on the inside of the box is from Shakespeare "I will but look upon the hedges and follow you ..."
  • And last, but not least, a small stone trinket box with inlaid flower (made in India)
In addition, each will come with a surprise.

Get to work! Leave your comment. Tell me what you would like. Make a list in order of preference if you wish. I'll pick the names on June 18. The first name will get the gift of their choice and I'll work my way through the list.

Thanks for celebrating with me.
