It's that time when Tammy at Daisy Yellow announces the start of

Here are the first seven cards.

If I can ICAD you can ICAD, too!

Liberate Your Art 2014

Liberate Your Art 2014 has come to a close.
This is the second year for me to participate and I had a great time again.
It's always fun to see what surprises might be in the mail box.

Kat Sloma puts this swap together each year and it is because of her that it is such a big success and so much fun.

Last year, I made five different postcards to swap.
I only heard from two of the folks who received my cards and I was disappointed.
So, this year I picked one image and had Moo make the postcards for me.
They did a great job.

This is the image on the cards I sent to Kat for swap.
Two of my favorite things: the baby Buddha and Iris.

Namaste

The first card I received was from Lynne Foerster of a lighthouse near Cape May.
She used the pallet effect on photoshop.

Collage of Postcards

The cute little shore bird is a photo by Annie Kelleher of Crimson Cove Photography.
I love shore birds. They are very entertaining. So much fun to watch.

The second photo is by Eric Muhr
He was in the right place at the right time to capture the morning sun along the crest of the young fir trees.

Both of these cards speak to the beauty of nature, contemplation, quiet.

Postcard Collage

The watercolor circles are by Carlyn Clark.
I love watercolor and the colors on this card are so bright. Cheerful!
The mixed media LOVE postcard is by Tina.
Clicking on Tina will take you to her Flickr page.

Unfortunately, I have not received Kat's postcard.
I'll keep looking and hoping that it is just slow or that the mail people
are enjoying it before they deliver!

I'm already looking forward to Liberate Your Art 2015.
I hope Kat will be able to put together a video of all the postcards like she did in previous years. This year she was unable to do so.

See you next year!

Wishing YOU well and much joy!

Art Every Day

For Day 3 and 4 in Art Every Day Month

Background made on 4 x 6 canvas board.
I'm trying to use up supplies I have around the house.
I have no idea why I bought the 4 x 6 canvas boards.
They come in a pack of three and so far, I've found two packs.

I applied a *sort of* thick layer of gesso and then stamped into the gesso leaving an imprint.
Fluid acrylics added and rubbed with a baby wipe.

Background: AEDM Day 3

Day 4

I did some more stamping.
More Golden Fluid Acrylics including gold.
More rubbing.
Added lady (she is from a woodblock print by Hokusai).
I love her glasses.
Added the bird.

Wishing all of YOU well and much joy!

Mail Call

It will come as no surprise that I LOVE Mail Call!

The lovely June at A Creative Dreamer suggested a postcard swap
to her followers and I threw my name in the hat.

Here are the lovely mixed-media cards that arrived in the post.

The first postcard came from June.
She sent a card to each of us.
In many ways the scan doesn't do this card justice.
The colors are so bright and wonderful.
I'm glad June loves poppies.

Poppies

The second card came from Eileen - The Artful Crafter.

The Best is the Enemy of the Good.

Isn't this lovely?!
I loved the message Eileen had on the back:
"Striving for perfection sometimes prevents me from finishing things. Challenges and swaps help push past my inner critic."

And last - this is the card I sent to Barbara at Rocky Cross Studio.

Sip Sip Hurrah

You know how I love tea.
This little bird is trying to add the teabag string to her nest.
And, I liked the message (also from a teabag):
For All You Do and ALL you are
SIP, SIP
hurrah.

Wishing YOU well and much joy!

A Little ICAD Catch-Up

It's been quiet here on Twisty Lane.
Many of you know I have a bad back.
I've even had back surgery.
Every now and then it just doesn't work like it should and that's what happened this past week.
I hope I can catch up with everyone soon.

Meanwhile, here are a few of the ICADs (Index Card A Day) I've been working on.
I'm starting to hit the wall on ICADs and I have July to go!
It can be done!

Mosaic Monday

One of my best buddies is an art teacher.
Every now and then we have a play day.
She tries out new techniques on me or shows me things she has recently learned.
Sometimes I help do the backgrounds for a project she has coming up in class.
Last week we got together.
The piece I'm working on is 24" x 24" -- larger than I usually work.
When it is finished it folds to make a book.

Mixed Media Mosaic

I have a long way to go before it is finished.
More paint, Caran deArche watersoluble pastels, more stamps, more texture.
The black and white areas need to be colored in.
I need to work on some of the transparencies that didn't get gelled down completely.
You get the idea.
If you look carefully, you can see some of the wonderful texture that is beginning to pop out.

Mixed Media

Last week I showed you some crochet I'm working on.
Here is the pumpkin block all finished except for the row of black squares that goes all the way around.
The shadow on the right side -- Miss Cassie was checking out HER new blanket.
Wondering if it would be finished in time for Halloween.

The lovely Mary is the hostess for Mosaic Monday.
Each mosaic is different. Each has a story to tell.

***
Snippets:

- The washing machine died on Sunday. One load of wash to finish. We put a makeshift clothesline in the garage and hung all the wet things. Mr. Dragon says the washer needs a new transmission. (Who knew a washing machine had a transmission?!!!) Since China bought Maytag, Maytag just isn't the same.
I think we will try to have it repaired and see what happens before we take the plunge and buy something new.

- Busy week coming up. My turn at the doctor appointments. Monday I see my eye guy. Wednesday I go in for the lab work for the appointment I have with the internist the following week.

- Last week we took little Riley to the vet for her cardiac exam. The vet who does the ultrasound on her is reported to have said "I don't know why this cat is still alive."!!!! Our vet tweaked her meds and home she came. She's in no pain and seems to enjoy watching Teddy and Cassie. We will carry on.

- The weather guys are promising us a cool front. Nothing yet, but I'll continue to hope!

Wishing you well and a JOY filled week!
