Spotted Photo Theme: Animal Love

Each month she will have a theme for photos taken in the past.
It's a way to show off your photos.
She chose Animal Love for the month of August.

Here are a few blasts from the past.

I had to start with the three kitties that I live with.

Note Card Party!

I missed Vee's Note Card Party last month.
I had a cold and forgot all about the party.
But I was forgetting about almost everything.
I looked back at the month of September to see what I missed!

McHugh Tea -- the first day I could really enjoy tasting.

Christmas Wreaths

As long as I was curled up on the couch with kitties, I put the time to good use.
Crochet Christmas Wreath hot pads.

That's how I spent my time while I had a cold.

A big thank you to Vee for hosting the Note Card Party.

Five Random Things

I have Five Random Things for you today.
Sit back and relax!

I've been stash busting.
All of this yarn was left from the Christmas afghans I made two years ago.
I like lapghans and thought there was enough to make one for me.
Not bad!

Stash Busting

It's just simple granny squares.
It is a little lop-sided, but then so am I.
It fits nicely!
I finished it just in time -- the days are getting longer and warmer!

**

One of my favorite things to do when the weather cooperates
is to walk into my Village and have breakfast or lunch.
I was leaving the restaurant with my ice tea to go in one hand and a book
in the other when a very handsome man in a three piece suit walked into the restaurant.
He was tall -- basketball player kind of tall.
I am short -- as in getting older every year, shrinking, now under five feet tall.
Mutt and Jeff.
I said "Good Morning".
He said "Good Morning".
And then he was opening the door for me.
I said "thank you very much".
And he said "you are welcome very much".
Wow.
(I could have opened the door using the *back end* method.)
Now, I'm no spring chicken and I'll tell you ladies --
I appreciated a very handsome man with good manners.
His Mama taught him well!
I was smiling the rest of the day.
And, my baseball Owls won their game that evening.

Maybe it was the luck of the Irish or perhaps the Easter Bunny made an early visit.
I won the Martha White giveaway on a Semi Homemade Mom.

Martha White Cornbread

Mina had to supervise as I unpacked the goodies.

Martha White Cornbread

The blue Martha White tote bag held all these goodies.
There's a t-shirt, an apron, muffin cups, a cupcake timer, 6 packages of
Martha White cornbread mix, spatulas, wooden spoons, hot pads, grocery lists, recipe holders.
Martha White has recipes on their website.
It's a good thing that I LOVE cornbread!

Since St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner,
here is a vintage reproduction postcard for you.

Many thanks to the lovely Beth for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday each week.

Lastly, I am reading
by Candice Millard.
It is not my usual kind of read -- it is not fluff!
I'm the first to say that my American history is not very good.
I remember very little of what I learned in school.
I knew Teddy Roosevelt was a president and some thing of a wild man.
This book is fascinating - a real look at his personality and an amazing tale of
exploration in the Amazon along the River of Doubt.
Candice Millard is an historian and a former writer and editor for National Geographic.
She's made the whole adventure come to life.
I am half way through the book and had to take a break and come up for air!

Camera Critters: Mina

Doesn't Mina look sweet and innocent?!!!
She likes her *house*.
It's a good place to hide and wait for her brother and sister to pass by.
Then -- watch the fur fly!!!!!

Camera Critters: Mina

You may remember that I adopted Mina from a local no kill shelter.
Every few months Friends for Life sends an email to me asking how she is doing.
I run around with the camera and take pictures of the little Princess
and send them off with a report that states
"she has pretty much taken over the house".

Here are a few of the latest Mina shots.

Mina sleeping/cat napping ... NOT!
I'm convinced she can hear the camera lens cover coming off even in her sleep!

A big thanks to Misty for hosting Camera Critters each week.

Camera Critters

Okay, Mina. Time to go nap!
You did such a good job this morning supervising Mummy while she worked in the back yard.
Have to take advantage of the cool mornings.
Tomorrow summer will be back!

A Soul HIdden In Everything

Mina

“How it is that animals understand things I do not know, but it is certain that they do understand. Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak, without even making a sound, to another soul.”  - Frances Hodgson Burnett (from A Little Princess)

If I Hide, Will They See Me?

If I hide behind the flowers, do you think they will see me?

Camera Critters: The Girls

Thanks to Misty for hosting Camera Critters.

Camera Critters

This is the Princess Mina, a lilac point Siamese with a bobbed tail.
She came to live at Twisty Lane on July 5.
Mina was adopted from a no kill shelter and was the mother of 5!
She's had a few medical problems -- ear mites, intestinal bacteria infection
and to add insult to injury -- tape worms.
She's doing great now. Finished with all her medications.
She loves to eat and needs to lose a little weight.
She loves to play and would love to play with her adopted sister, Cassie.
Cassie isn't sure.

I'm not sure what Mina was looking at -- perhaps the ceiling fans!
She is a cute little thing.

Mina

This is Cassie -- the little star.
She is giving me the "Mummy, why did you bring her here?" look.
It's okay, Cassie.
You'll always be my baby girl!

Cassie

Wishing YOU well, much joy and a fun filled weekend!
Stay cool!

Introducing The Princess Mina

I'd like to introduce to you the Princess Mina.
At least she thinks she is a princess!

Mina

Mina is around two years old.
She was found in late March in an empty apartment with her 5 kittens.
Lucky for her, a kind person found her and took her to a local no kill shelter.
She was fostered while she took care of her babies and I understand she was a very good momma.
When her kittens were old enough, Mina was spayed, taken to the shelter
and placed for adoption.

Mina Mosaic

That's where I came in!
I met Mina at the shelter and fell in love with her.
She is a lynx point siamese with who knows what else and a bobbed tail.
Mina now lives with Teddy, Cassie and moi.
So far, so good!

Mosaic Mina

A big thank you to Mary for hosting Mosaic Monday.

Wishing YOU well and much joy.
