Introducing The Princess Mina

I'd like to introduce to you the Princess Mina.
At least she thinks she is a princess!

Mina

Mina is around two years old.
She was found in late March in an empty apartment with her 5 kittens.
Lucky for her, a kind person found her and took her to a local no kill shelter.
She was fostered while she took care of her babies and I understand she was a very good momma.
When her kittens were old enough, Mina was spayed, taken to the shelter
and placed for adoption.

Mina Mosaic

That's where I came in!
I met Mina at the shelter and fell in love with her.
She is a lynx point siamese with who knows what else and a bobbed tail.
Mina now lives with Teddy, Cassie and moi.
So far, so good!

Mosaic Mina

A big thank you to Mary for hosting Mosaic Monday.

Wishing YOU well and much joy.

Tea With A Kitty On My Knee

It's no secret.
I love Kitties and Tea.

Tea With a Kitty On The Knee

I've been enjoying my morning tea
(this morning Bigelow Green Tea with Mint)
in my new kitty mug from Kent Pottery.

Tea With a Kitty On the Knee

The lid keeps my tea nice and warm.
The illustrations and sayings on the mug bring a smile to my face.
Mornings around here -- even on Monday -- are a happy place!

Tea With a Kitty On the Knee

The box my kitty mug came in was just too cute!
I pulled it apart and kept the illustrations and sayings.
This is an example and shows the Kent Pottery insignia with is also on the bottom of the mug.

Tea With a Kitty on the Knee

The Meow tea towel was a gift from a very dear friend of mine.
She sends me some cute feline information every now and then.
Here's an example:

WHY FELINES LOVE FEMALES

Cats are drawn to the open, social nature of women and enjoy engaging in human-to-human behaviors, such as being spoken to -- something women do more often than men, says new research. "Eventually the pair can develop day-to-day rituals akin to those of people who live together for a long time," according to study author Kurt Kotrschal, PhD.

Wishing you well, much joy and a wonderful cup of tea.

Hippity Hoppity!

It's looking more and more like Spring and Easter.
The bunnies are here!

Easter Bunny

It's time to use my Emma Bridgewater spring time tea mugs.

Easter Tea

I've had the Tulip mug for sometime, but the Bunny Rabbit mug is new this year.

Easter Tea

I do think tea tastes better in these mugs!

Easter Tea

Yes.
There she is.

Cassie and Tea

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I wanted to share this beautiful pink teacup with you.
I love the big white and pink flowers.
You can see the ripples on the cup and saucer.

Valentine Tea Mosaic

On my last visit to World Market, I bought the heart shaped ginger snaps.
I LOVE ginger snaps.

 Valentine Tea Mosaic

Apparently, Cassie likes ginger snaps, too.
With green tea!!!

Valentine Tea Mosaic

Cassie has never shown any interest in my tea time photography set ups.
There is a first time for everything and it was fun to include the little lady
and NO, she didn't get my ginger snaps!

Valentine Tea
See the little pink rose (peony?) in the cup?
Lovely!

Wishing YOU well and a wonderful cup of tea!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the latest photos of Teddy and little Cassie.
Teddy is a natural at posing. He's easy to photograph.
Little Cassie is a perpetual motion machine and
when she sees me with the camera, she walks away or walks directly to me.
Very rarely do I take a photo of her that isn't blurred!

Teddy and Cassie are my furbabies.
My companions who share my tears, my smiles, my laughs, my world.
And I share theirs.

Today I'm linking to My World and my thanks to the My World team for hosting.

Wishing YOU well and a JOY filled week!

On This Date

On this date, seven years ago,
the doorbell rang and my good friend and neighbor
brought a little gray furbaby to live at Twisty Lane.
His name is Teddy.

Purrfect

He grew from this little squirt into a big, beautiful boy.

Teddy

He supervises everything that goes on in the house.

Teddy

Does he look better against blues or pinks?!!!

Crochet Baby Afghan

He likes baseball, too.
And does a great Owl imitation!

Teddy

Happy seven years, Teddy!
Cassie and I love you!

Be sure to check out the other Camera Critters.

Wishing YOU well and a fun weekend!

Meow

I've gone to the Cats on this Friday!

The postcard I'm sharing is from
The Cat Postcard Book c 1987 by Running Press Book Publishers.

Cat Postcard

The back of the postcard reads:
Cat and Butterfly, Edo period,
Ukiyo-e school, by Hokusai (Japanese, 1760-1849).
Painting on paper.
Courtesy of the Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution,
Washington, D.C., Acc. No . 02.42

The kitty in the postcard reminds me of my furbaby,
Cassie.
She's the star of the Haiku for today.

Cassie knows no fear
flying through the air with ease
slowed down with bad knees

Cassie

Cassie had a bad weekend.
She was playing with my other furbaby, Teddy, when I heard her hiss at him.
She never hisses.
When I checked on them Cassie was holding one of her hind legs out at an odd angle.
A few minutes later she was walking on all fours,
but the day was off to a not so good start.
To make a long story short ... Cassie has a dislocated hip and bad knee caps!
Her growth plates are still open and as long as she is getting around and not in any distress,
we are in a holding pattern.
Today she's been flying through the air ... just like old times.
Off to the vet again next week to see how things look.

Cassie and Teddy have a friend named Luna
and were featured on Luna's blog last week.
If you like kitties, you should visit!

This and That

I feel like a This and That Day!
I thought I'd start with a knitting project that I've almost finished.
Pretty colorway -- Bernat Mosaic Ambrosia.

Yarn Fans

I needed to knit 12 fans.

Yarn Fans

I put them together to make the scarf.
I enjoyed this pattern.
Knit one fan a day and two weeks later .. a scarf!
(I still need to weave the ends.)

Teddy

Teddy had to help me photograph the finished project.
It takes 3 skeins of the Bernat Mosaic.
I ordered the kit (from Mary Maxim I think) and received the
Bernat Mosaic booklet with 10 knit and crochet patterns.
This is an acrylic yarn that feels much like cotton!

Sappy and homespun, Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani was my perfect summer read. Set in the real place of Big Stone Gap, Virginia we meet Ave Maria Mulligan. She is 35 years old, a pharmacist, a member of the rescue squad, and calls herself a spinster. The highlight of her week is the arrival of the bookmobile. (Remember bookmobiles? I do and just knew I'd like this book because Ave likes bookmobiles, too!). Ave's favorite book is about the ancient art of Chinese face reading.  A surprise, family secret sends Ave Maria on a quest. There are the requisite Southern quirky characters: "sexpert" Iva Lou who runs the bookmobile and crusty, chain-smoking Fleeta. I was delighted when I found out there are three more in the series!

I started ICAD (Index Card A Day) on July 1 ... one month behind everyone else.
Here are my three newest ICAD's.
It's been fun to see my work pop up on Tammy's blog as she reviews the latest ICAD's of the group.

A Treat Each Year

I love hand made objects. They have a certain spirit to them.
Each year I go to the student art sale at the Glassell school.
Each year it is my goal to come home with one tea cup.
Sometimes I come  home with a little something extra.
This year I came home with the kitty print.
His name is Emeril!
I thought he looks a lot like my Teddy.

Tea

The  tea pot came from Glassell, but not this year.
This is the new tea cup.
It is hand thrown porcelain and is very thin.

Tea Cup

I have criteria for the perfect tea cup.
It must be pleasing to my eye.
It must feel good.
It must feel good in my hands.
And, IT must have a good feel.
You know ... the spirit of the cup .. the feeling of the artist and the clay.
Really.
It's there!

Some years I've picked up a cup and put it right back down.
Not this year.
I knew immediately ... before I touched it ... that it was the one.
It called to me and I brought it home.

Tea

Just like the kitty print.
He called and I listened!

Thanks to our tea party hostesses.
These are just a few of the tea parties in the Land of Blog.

Wishing YOU well and a wonderful cup of tea.

Kitties and Cream

I had so much fun last week combining postcards
and haiku that I thought I'd try it again!

This postcard is from The Cat Postcard Book published by Running Press.

Kitties and Cream

The back of the postcard reads:
Little White Kitties into Mischief, 1871, by Currier & Ives (American).
Hand colored lithograph. Museum of the City of New York
Harry T. Peters Collection.

I'm pairing this postcard with the photo from the June calendar page
published by the United States Humane Society.
It's brought a smile to may face everyday.
It's a real awwwwwwwwww!!!!!

So many of you have left wonderful comments and sent me emails
asking how I'm doing and cheering me on.
I had a telephone call last week from the protocol nurse who was so helpful
during Mr. Dragon's chemo, radiation and surgery ... that all went for naught.
It was a rough telephone call. I'm afraid I wasn't very *nice*.
I told my step-daughter that I guess I'd too many good days and needed a really rough one!
I am managing. Almost through all the estate paperwork.
But I miss him and I know I always will.
He had my back and I had his.
My back is lonely.

She's Growing Up!

Cassie

Little Miss Cassie is growing up!

She's become quite the lady.
