Five Random Things

I have Five Random Things for you today.
Sit back and relax!

I've been stash busting.
All of this yarn was left from the Christmas afghans I made two years ago.
I like lapghans and thought there was enough to make one for me.
Not bad!

Stash Busting

It's just simple granny squares.
It is a little lop-sided, but then so am I.
It fits nicely!
I finished it just in time -- the days are getting longer and warmer!

**

One of my favorite things to do when the weather cooperates
is to walk into my Village and have breakfast or lunch.
I was leaving the restaurant with my ice tea to go in one hand and a book
in the other when a very handsome man in a three piece suit walked into the restaurant.
He was tall -- basketball player kind of tall.
I am short -- as in getting older every year, shrinking, now under five feet tall.
Mutt and Jeff.
I said "Good Morning".
He said "Good Morning".
And then he was opening the door for me.
I said "thank you very much".
And he said "you are welcome very much".
Wow.
(I could have opened the door using the *back end* method.)
Now, I'm no spring chicken and I'll tell you ladies --
I appreciated a very handsome man with good manners.
His Mama taught him well!
I was smiling the rest of the day.
And, my baseball Owls won their game that evening.

Maybe it was the luck of the Irish or perhaps the Easter Bunny made an early visit.
I won the Martha White giveaway on a Semi Homemade Mom.

Martha White Cornbread

Mina had to supervise as I unpacked the goodies.

Martha White Cornbread

The blue Martha White tote bag held all these goodies.
There's a t-shirt, an apron, muffin cups, a cupcake timer, 6 packages of
Martha White cornbread mix, spatulas, wooden spoons, hot pads, grocery lists, recipe holders.
Martha White has recipes on their website.
It's a good thing that I LOVE cornbread!

Since St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner,
here is a vintage reproduction postcard for you.

Many thanks to the lovely Beth for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday each week.

Lastly, I am reading
by Candice Millard.
It is not my usual kind of read -- it is not fluff!
I'm the first to say that my American history is not very good.
I remember very little of what I learned in school.
I knew Teddy Roosevelt was a president and some thing of a wild man.
This book is fascinating - a real look at his personality and an amazing tale of
exploration in the Amazon along the River of Doubt.
Candice Millard is an historian and a former writer and editor for National Geographic.
She's made the whole adventure come to life.
I am half way through the book and had to take a break and come up for air!

Wishing YOU well and much joy!

I had some $$ left on my Marshall's Gift Card.
Back over to Marshall's and this is what I found...

Today is the last day of the Summer Give-a-way.
I promised Cassie she could pick the winner since Teddy got the job last week.
Numbers 1 - 30 were put on small pieces of paper
(number 11 removed since it was the winning number last week).
The papers were placed into a bowl and mixed up.
Then they were thrown into the air.
Cassie was present to supervise.
Once on the ground, Cassie walked over them all...
sniffing ... and finally began to play with number 10!!
Kathy at Delightsome Life is the winner!
Kathy, please send me an email with your mailing information and
congratulations!

Wishing you well, much joy and a wonderful cup of tea.

Tea, Honey And A Winner!

Tea and Honey for One

This is my TEA AND HONEY Tea For One.
The teapot holds 16 oz and the cup holds 10 oz.
Cardew Design is the distributor.
It was designed in England and made in China.
It is a very happy looking little Tea For One with the little bee on the tip of the lid!
I found this little Tea For One at Tuesday Morning.

Today I get to announce the first winner in the Summer Curiosities Sweepstakes!
I put numbers from 1 to 30 on slips of paper.
Folded the paper.
Placed them in a bowl.
Mixed them up.
Then tossed them into the air.
The piece of paper that landed the closest to Teddy
(who was asleep after partaking of fresh catnip)
was the winner -- number 11 --
Beth at Beyond The Garden Gate.
Beth, please email your mailing information to me
and I'll get your box of curiosities off to you.
Remember, there is one more drawing next week.
Cassie is determined that next week, she will pick the winner!

Wishing you well, much joy and a wonderful cup of tea.

Tea, Cookies and a Give-a-way

A dear friend gave me a Marshall's Gift Card for Christmas.
It has been burning a hole in my wallet for months.
I finally made my way to Marshall's to see what goodies I could find.

What do you think?
Fun!

And, I had $$ left on the gift card!

Tea and Cookies

The only marks on the bottom of the mugs and plates are:
Food and Microwave Safe.
I'm very pleased with my Marshall's find.
The mugs are very large -- perfect for the first tea of the day.

The cookies are Carr's Ginger Lemon English Tea Cookies.
Delicious with Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea!

It's nearing that time of year again.
My birthday is at the end of the month and my blog-birthday is in early June.
So, it's time for a give-a-way and I'm calling this one my Summer Curiosities Give-a-way.

I'm going to pick one name on May 29 during my birthday week
and another name on June 5 the week of Twisty's birthday.

The winners will split the curiosities you see in the photo.
As you can see, Cassie has given her seal of approval to all the items.
I'm sure there will be a few extra goodies thrown in.

The rules:
Leave a comment on this post.
That's all you need to do.

If you are a winner, it would be nice if you were a follower, too!

Next: Where have I been?
Have you seen these tutorials? And this is just a few. They've been going on for weeks!

***
Snippets:
Weather: It is summer here. Hotter than the hinges of Hades and with humidity.
Plans for the Day: Sit back, relax, read, watch a little baseball on TV. Have a steak to celebrate Father's Day.
Mr. Dragon: All the tests the last two weeks came back negative. He did have a pleural effusion that had to be drained, but that is often seen in patients who have this surgery. We were reminded once again ... he had LOTS of surgery. Getting a little stronger with each day. Baby steps.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Mail Call!

I was one of the winners of a give-a-way at Olde Thyme Prims and my gift arrived in the mail yesterday. I just love Mail Call!

I was so excited when I saw this was one of the give-a-ways.
First, it is by my buddy Sarah at Cottage Garden Studio
and, second, it is from a series of hers of different shops
and places to visit in a little magical town filled with witches,
unicorns, dragons, owls ... you get the idea.
Anyway, The Zoo is perfect for me!
It combines one of my loves (THE ZOO)
and fantasy!
Thank you Sarah and Olde Thyme Prims!

But that wasn't all.
I guess Sarah was feeling sorry for me after Rocky's death.
She included this wonderful little ATC.
Isn't this little lady with her magic wand fun?!!!
She looks dressed up for a special occasion.
Halloween isn't very far away!

Joy!

Potpourri

It's Friday! Hope your week was busy, educational and fun!
Here's my journal page for the day.
Ms. Purrrrfect and Friend.
The question is:
Who is Ms Purrrrfect and who is the friend?!!

I love the words: curiosity is necessary to human nature, and especially
to you...
Also the words power and secret.
Wonder what message I was sending myself?
Whatever it is, I like it!
The kitty on the page is our Teddy and the lady can be seen at the
Seattle Museum of Art.

My gifts to Maria-Therese finally made their way out of customs.
The scarf arrived and you can see how it looks on the beautiful Maria-Therese
by visiting her here. Also, you can see the surprise that I included!

While I was reading blogs yesterday, catching up on visiting my
blogging buddies, I noticed that almost all of them had gone shopping.
Well, not to be outdone, I went to Michaels and bought some
more embroidery thread. You'd think by the looks of the picture above
that I had enough thread. NOPE. I needed three different shades of purple,
brown and yellow. I thought the thread made another nice shot
of color!

For those you who enjoy decorating blogs, antiques ...
Eddie Ross is having a give-away of berry spoons.
Click here if you are interested.
I love berries and I signed up!

One more thing: I mentioned the blog camp on the Blog of the Week post.
Here's a link to a separate blog devoted to Blog Camp!

Just a note about Blogoversaries: mine is in 27 days.
My birthday is several days before the anniversary.
I thought about 10 days before *B* day, I'd announce a give-a-way.
There will be three prizes: one for the 100th post (long ago),
one for the anniversary,
and one for my birthday.
Stay tuned!

Have a wonderful weekend!
