This and That

1. Rain, Rain go away. We'd like to see the sun today!

Rain

It got so dark in the middle of the day, the lights in the garden came on.

2. No flooding on my block, but my favorite independent book store, Murder By The Book, had to remove their carpet. No books were damaged. Just enough water to ruin the carpet.

3. Speaking of books, I finished BLOOD ORANGE: A China Bayles mystery by Susan Wittig Albert. Believe it or not: number 24 in this series. I've read them all and enjoy visiting with the "friends" I've made over the years. Cozy reads (not too cozy), filled with information about herbs and gardens and a recipe or two. In BLOOD ORANGE, China finds that medicare and hospice fraud may have caused the murder of a nurse.

4. Do you "recycle" books? My god-mother loves the China Bayles mysteries and would be disappointed if she didn't get the latest for Mother's Day. My copy is all wrapped and waiting for the trip to the postoffice. And, yes, she knows I "recycle" and approves.

5. Today is Earth Day and I'm off with some electronics to recycle -- some very old phones and one of the very first iPads.

Sun
The sun came out!

Wishing YOU well and much joy!

We are having rain also. So glad you are not flooding but that is sad about the carpet at the book store. I love mystery series; thanks for the info on the books. I purchase books at the thrift store plus friends share their books with me, then I pass them along to others. Thanks for your comment on the raisin cookbook. I saw a similar cookbook at the thrift store this week for Toll House Chocolate Chips!
p.s. I love your water garden lights.

Sending wishes for sunshine your way! We had much-welcome rain this morning and I am happy that I won't have to water after work.

It's very wet here. Hope that you manage to stay dry. We like to exchange and share books too, either to and from charity shops or with friends and family. x

Rain gets tedious doesn't it.
Our Spring months are often like that over here.
I haven't read that series, sounds good though - I like books that have the odd recipe!
I recycle my books too. The good ones I send to France for my daughter to read as she can't buy books in English unless she goes to Paris.
The others I take to the hospice shop.
Happy weekend

Good project for earth day - recycling. I went through electronics "stuff" today - mostly cables cables cables - why do they seem to mulitply so fast. Fortunately I have the habit of labeling them when they are new and that way I can recycle them without fear when the item they go to is no longer useful to me - and has been recycled already. It is raining here too - after 4 days of warm sunshine - I want more sunshine.

So glad the sun finally showed its face! I think I've heard of that shop, Murder by the Book. I had no idea it was Earth Day! You did your part with your re-cycling!

Ah yes...the rainy days of April...we are having quite a bit of it ourselves. But today, at least for the moment, the sun is shining! Love that Buddha! Happy Weekend!

The sunshine seems especially bright after all the rain this week, doesn't it? I still have Blood Orange to look forward to.

Rain is such a beautiful needed thing but too much is such a worry. I love that we have electronic recycle. I packed up and used this service last week. Great shots. B

A wonderful five to read about, thank you :) I hope you get some relief from the rain. It's nice to have just enough but not too much to cause such damage.

What a lovely five! It's wonderful that independent book stores still exist where you live. It sounds like one specialized in detective stories. In the ideal world, I would be running a bookshop specialized in garden books. :)
Have a great new week!

I like thi first pic...
My finished books I often put in a public bookshelf in our shoppingcenter, may other people have a joy with them too.
Have a sunny new week

I think that recycling books is a very good idea! Most of the ones I read are recycled to me and then I pass them on again to someone else! Thank you for joining Five On Friday, hope you had a great weekend! xx

have you dried out yet?! i'm getting ready to run out the door to the boys' track meet and there's a call for a thunderstorm coming...hope not! i used to use paperbackswap.com regulary to recycle books but kind of put it on a back burner when we moved here to virginia...i really need to start back up on it...if you haven't heard of it, it is awesome! you list books that you no longer want and agree to mail it if someone wants it and then you get a credit to use on any book you want once your old book is delivered! and as for phones, we all have a few in our drawers....helpful if one of ours breaks down! when my oldest son just upgraded a few months ago he turned his old one into verizon though and they gave us a credit!
thanks so much for linking and i hope to see you again soon!!
