This and That

I've been home nursing my bad back
and trying not to sit for any length of time ...
that means no blog posts.

So, I decided it was time to do a This and That post
adding a little bit every few days.

*

(Karen from Houston Chronicle)

I think I've watched the Mike Friers No-No game three times.
Friday night when it happened,
early Saturday morning rerun
and the Saturday afternoon rerun.
Mike came from the Brewers to the Astros in a trade.
This was his first complete game and
the first No Hitter in Minute Maid Park.
Exciting each time I watched.

**

I participated in the Index Card A Day challenge again this summer.
However, I didn't do 61 cards this year.
I simply ran out of steam and the back didn't help.

I thought I'd share a few of my favorites starting with cats.

I took my time.
Didn't rush and completed 34 cards.

So, if I wasn't being arty, and I wasn't reading..
what have I been doing???
Crocheting!
On these hot, miserable days I didn't want to go out.
So I decided if I was going make things for the holidays,
now was a good time to get busy!

Crochet

I liked the pattern and the cowl looked quick and easy (it is).

I picked two color ways -- Ocean Waves and Desert Sands --
and will have enough yarn to make several cowls.
I always keep the first one for myself.
It has all the mistakes I make while I'm figuring out the pattern!
I really didn't like this yarn (Lion Brand Textures) when I started.
It was difficult to see the loops and where to put the next stitch.
But, by the time I was finished with the first one, I was moving right along
and liking the result.

Cowl

This is the Ocean Waves color way and the first one I made (mine!).

Crochet Cowls

And this is the Desert Sands on the right.
It has a Southwest feel.
I have a new cowl and one made for a gift.
Moving right along!

Wishing YOU well and much joy.

I'm joining the lovely Judith for Mosaic Monday.

Nice crochet. Sorry to hear your back is not well, that puts a damper on so much. You probably won't cool off for a while in your neck of the woods, but at least you have all that fun crochet. Nice work. I like both colorways, Probably should keep one of each for yourself. xox

Good morning, so sorry about your back. I hope you feel better soon. I like your artsy images, the kitties are cute. The crochet cowl looks pretty, I like the yarn color you choose. Have a happy day and week ahead!

Miu! You are very artistic! I love your cat cards, they look so wow! I think 30 cards is accomplishment. I can craft just one card and after that its boring. I just made pile of birthday invitation cards. Happy Mosaic Monday!

I'm sorry your back has been troubling you this summer. Your art cards are lovely and I really like your crocheted cowls. They are inspiring me to go to Michael's and look for the pattern. I like sitting in the evenings and doing a little handwork, especially in the fall/winter.

Hope you soon feel better.

Hope you feel better soon, Snap! My huband suffers from back pain from time to time and goes for physical therapy which usually helps him, but all cases are different and sometimes rest is best.

Love the crocheted scarf! The colors are so earthy and beautiful!

I do hope your back is better soon...as you know I am laid up with an injury and am sitting too much! You certainly are staying busy but I wish I was out gardening.

Nice to see a post from you Sharon and I hope your back is getting better. I like the artsy creations and the crocheted scarves, a good idea to start on Christmas gifts.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

So sorry your back is hurting.....that kind of pain just stops us cold, doesn't it? Have you seen a chiropractor? I always thought they were so hokey till I went to one and it changed everything for me.

Now I don't hesitate - and my pain is nearly never now, with occasional visits. Oh, and I loooove regular therapeutic massages! We have Massage Envy here and I have been a member for 3 years now. Highly recommend.

Good health to you, my sweet friend. Hugs.
