Asian Elephant - Eye of Methai -- Houston Zoo
"I often ask myself at what point can a man and a beast that cannot talk recognize each other. From the early paradise, at the dawn of creation, runs the path where their hearts meet. Although their connection has long been forgotten, traces of their continuing association has not been erased. And, suddenly, in a wordless harmony, a dim memory awakens and the beast looks on the face of the man with tender trust and the man casts his eyes upon the beast with an amused tenderness. It is as if two friends, both wearing masks, meet and vaguely recognize each other through their disguises." ~ Rabindranath Tagore

It is amazing that its eyes are so sad, maybe it is in the zoo or making jobs for human, i wonder if the free elephants also have those expressions in their eyes! I haven't seen elephants in the wild so i can't compare! Thanks for visiting my site, i hope you drop by again. By the way, i love the things you wrote on your profile, haha!
Good evening Snap, What beautiful words. It is sad to know that the elephant is in a zoo. I have seen elephants when I visited India, next time I will have to look into their eyes to see if they are as sad as the one in the photo. Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne
What a beauty of a beast :)
There is such depth of sadness in the droop of this beautiful creature's eyes. I hope people in Houston will try to influence the zoo to stop keeping elephants.
