Potpourri

It's Friday and that means it's time for a little this and that
and some random thoughts with Nancy.

*

I'm sure you are getting tired of me saying it is hot.
I'm getting tired of saying it is hot.
I think that's why I went overboard this week buying magazines that had lots of pretty autumn pics.

**

The first home football game for Rice U is this weekend.
It is an evening game -- thank goodness!

***

I feel sorry for myself because I have a cold.
I've been curled up on the couch surrounded by kitties.
I got up to replenish my tea and there was Minnie Mina taking over Mummy's spot on the couch.

Mina

****

I think I have successfully figured out Bavarian crochet.
I'm making a hot pad -- using Bavarian stitch and yarn leftovers from last Christmas.
When it's done, I'll share.

*****

It is wonderful. I'm half way through and made myself stop.
I could have read it in one day.
I slowed down to savor each word.
I love the world of Three Pines and Inspector Gamache.
If you haven't read this series, do it.
Start with the first one, STILL LIFE
Enjoy!

******

Only 50 days until Halloween!

Wishing YOU well and much joy!

The local weathermen kept telling us it would be hot here this week but so far we have just had a lot of rain and I'm wearing a sweater.

Our heat finally broke a couple of days ago and it's wonderful here -- sending some your way!

Miss Mina and my Jack must have received the same memo this morning -- Jack keeps jumping up in my computer chair every chance she gets! :)

Feel better!

Well, I hope you are feeling better and better and it gets cooler and cooler for you. I am playing golf now that we came home from London. We play in the morning but it is cooler now, low to mid 90's than when we left in the high 90's.

Who is Rice playing? I hate it that Houston can't play them (or do they) for the Bayou Bucket. One year in another life I had a date for that game (UH is my school, one of them) and we couldn't find my car when the game was over. We had to wait until the parking lot emptied to do that.

Minnie is a cute cat. My horse that I rode to high school was named Minnie. And our Friendswood cat was name Farrah Faucett Minue (Cajun for cat). Memories, memories. Thank you,
..

Yeah, it's hot here too! So unusual for the Pacific Northwest that I sort of want it to carry on, but I hear this is the last few days before rain on Tuesday...booo! Hope you feel better soon, and it's probably easier with your lovely kitty around you. :)

I hear you about the heat. It's been in the mid 90's all this week. We are suppose to peak at 96 tomorrow and then drop into the 70's on Monday - What a crazy weather pattern.

So sorry to hear you have a cold. At least you have sweet kitties to cuddle with (they are such good companions). Yours are a lot like ours, they love to steal spots on chairs and couches. Mina is adorable.

Enjoy your book. I may have to check out that series.

Your kitty is too precious! Don't you love how they know when we need their company? :-) I hope you get over your cold quickly--I know that's no fun.

I have made a note of Louise Penny. I love to find new series! I am reading Sue Grafton's W is for Wasted now--I don't want to put it down.

Take care, and have a wonderful weekend!

A cold when it is so hot is no fun! Hope that you feel better soon. How nice of the kitties to keep your spot warm for you! This is the second time I've heard of that book...must investigate.

I love Louise Penny's mysteries, but haven't read her newest one yet. Thank you for mentioning it. I go to the bookstore every Friday! :)

And i'm glad you're surrounded by kitties, but i'm sorry you have a cold.

Snap,
I hope you get a cool down. We have had a beautiful week with temps in the upper 70's and mid 50's over night.

Have fun at the Rice U game. The college football game environment is so fun and contagious.

Feel better soon. No fun being sick and double no fun being sick when it is hot! Looks and sounds like you have good company.

Thanks for the comment you left on my blog! It made my day.

What a gorgeous kitty photo.

Your kitty is just adorable! They want to be right in our spot, between us and our book. So funny! This is so strange -- I was trying to think of the book with Light in the title and an author Penny and here you wrote about it! It's going on my list now! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Snap
I hope you are feeling better! Your Minnie Mina is adorable. I miss having a cat so much, but the time isn't right to adopt a new one right now.

I love a good book --I will have to look into this one!
